So it looks like I’ll be doing some Infiniband work soon. I’m looking for a technical introduction before diving into the spec – is this book any good?

Oy
Can’t say I envy you. That spec is pretty ghastly to just wade through. I suppose it’s alright if you know precisely what you’re looking for, or if you’re implementing a well-defined feature out of it.
I haven’t read anything else on IB, though, so I can’t help. But may have a lead.

What sort of infiniband work will you be doing?
I haven’t read that book. I just read the spec top down. It does a good job of easing you into things. You just have to dedicate a lot of time to it.

We’ll be using it as the prototyping vehicle for a research project.

Btw, are you planning on visiting .il again any time soon?

I can’t say anything for that book in particular, but I’ve got a pile of the books in that series, and they’re all top notch.

Thanks. I inherited two from a coworker (on the Pentium and Protected Mode) and they’re pretty good, which is why I’m considering this one over the Intel IB book.

Please be more specific
I’d love to hear more on what you are planning to do and maybe I’ll have some advice too. You can give me a call at 0544478803.
Working in Mellanox for the last 6 years IB is what I do for a long time…

Re: Please be more specific
Thanks for the offer! everything is still in flux at the moment, so I’d rather not give too many details yet. Rest assured, anything I can write about, I will 馃檪
I’m currently in the US for work and OLS next week. I’ll give you a call when I’ll get back to .il next week, and maybe we’ll meet to talk IB?
