One of the nicer things about going to OLS is that it makes me want to hack between the talks.

Hee. That’s a funny patch. It was one of the talks I wanted to make it to.
I heard that people were heckling the guy who gave the OpenSSI talk. Which is a shame, that’s what I wanted to do.

The SSI talk was amusing, but nothing particularly interesting. I think all of the SSI approaches are far too intrusive to be considered for kernel inclusion. We need a new way of doing SSI that is less intrusive (or better integrated, which is really the same thing).
Why is the patch funny?

I find it funyn because, unless I am mistaken, it is adding in error checking. Which, unless I am mistaken again, should have been there in the first place.

openSSI
concerning SSI/openSSI – it seems that all new things are not more than just very well forgotten old things .. most of SSI goals where implemented in original MOSIX almost 10 years ago … and most of the “SSI” requirements were introduced in MOSIX book almost 20 years ago 🙂
