Its utility is not immediately apparent to me. That having been said; If I had the time I would probably find myself publishing my bookshelf there for no other reason than doing it.
I noticed that “the new black” is appending the word “beta” to a service.
Two things:
– it gives me the impetus to finally catalog (and clean-up!) my library, which I’ve been meaning to do for ages.
– it should completely eradicate the “I have nothing interesting to read” excuse from the face of the planet. No more trawling the web for interesting books, or looking at Amazon’s “customers who bought this also bought”. I’m not necessarily interested in the book that *most* people who bought a given book also bought – I’m interested in the books that someone who has roughly the same taste in books as me also has. The transitive closure of books over people in my congruence class, if you wish.
Iiinteresting…
