I usually only make the quicky posts from cicq, and the longer ones from lynx (where C-x e launches me into vi, so I can use a non-suck editor). But yeah, it’s nice for that too.
I usually post directly from xemacs via lj-mode. In the rare occasion that I don’t have an xemacs buffer handy, I post via mailing it to lj, pgp signed (which lands me in an xemacs buffer to compose it…).

Nope. Unlike many free software programs I use, I contributed nothing to CenterICQ. I hope to rewrite it one day in Twisted 🙂
