So what do you have to do as part of the Military reserve week ?

If I take that ‘you’ as plural, reservists do everything regular soldiers In Israel, after (at least) three years of mandatory army service, everyone become reservists. If I take that ‘you’ as singular, nothing I would feel fomfortable discussing online 😉

Hey, looks like we have similar military system… Owell, when our army was formed, officers from your country came over to train our soldiers. Bad Bad Bad 🙂

Oh, I did my part, and still do. I never liked the army much, but I felt (still feel) obligated to do my part.

I still owe the army 8 months, and then 13 years of military obligation (reservation). I can’t say I feel obligated to do my part, I have no choice.

During the current conflict (war in Iraq) if a reservist wants to retire
because he or she is eligible, and the reserve unit gets activated to go to Iraq before the individuals retirement request is approved can the individual retire of does the individual go to Iraq with the reserve unit?

Basically, in the IDF, a reservist never has the option to voluntarrily retire. All reservists stop being reservists at a certain age (40 or 50 something). I hope that answers your question?
