VMWare taking its first baby step toward open source. I don’t really care about the effect on Microsoft; I do wonder what effect it will have on Xen.

    Hmm. Personally, I think Xen has more features and a higher sex appeal.
    But we will see what happens.

      Not sure, but one person I knew actually shelled out for a copy of VMWare in order to run Windows on Linux. Well, I’m interested to also know how VMWare fares against Bochs and qemu. (Plex86 seems to be stuck, alas.) And when oh when will emulators be capable of emulating the floppy copy protection techniques of the good old days?

        That sounds really interesting! too bad I decided an hour ago to postpone reading anything that is not directly relevant to the things I’m working on indefinitely for the forseeable future…
