I just got back from the post office, where I picked up a couple of packages from the Open University. One of them was the course material for the compilation class I’ll be taking next year. The bulk of the package was the book “Compilers – Principals, Techniques and Tools”, by Aho, Sethi and Ullman. Since I already have a copy of the book, I’m offering it up for grabs. Amazon is selling it for 92$. I will sell it for the same price, shipping in Israel on me, or will trade it for a CS/EE/Math book of equal stature. The book is in mint condition. BTW the Amazon is completely out of its mind, 92$=407 NIS, for a single book…

I’ll try publishing it at work, or maybe trade it with our library. As for the price of CS books…. touchy subject indeed.
BTW, are you having a spare book for the same reason I’m having a spare book?

Not quite. My brother and I both study in the OU so we have almost every book twice.
If you managed to sell AW, MIT, etc. books at your work let me know. There’s a superflous copy of Database Design (IMHO it’s a completely waste of time, the course *and* the book, trivial things written as arrogantly as if were nuclear physics engineering design) and most of the math/CS hebrew courses twice as well.
Actually I’m in doubt if there’ll be a single person wishing to buy this book for himself, it’s either he does compilation already and don’t need the book, or he’s taking a compilation course at the University and thus don’t need this book as well.
Someone just wishing to build a compiler shouldn’t bother himself with LALR but with bison instead….
