A few brave souls are trying to set up an Israeli chapter of the SCA. The first SCAIsrael meeting will take place this Tuesday, in Jerusalem. I don’t know if I’ll be able to make it (not likely, considering it’s at 1800 and I live and work in Haifa), but I’m definitely interested.

It is still a bit before six am, and the thought of an SCA meeting in Jerusalem met me defenseless
defenseless, it is, before the galloping giggles.
How will you tell if people you see walking down the street towards your meeting point really are being CREATIVELY anachronistic rather than merely wearing the clothes required by their religion and culture?
12th century Polish nobility, men in dresses, clergyfolk and monastic men, the nuns in their habits and sandals, the modern Jewish orthodox (you can place their political views by the diameter of their headcovering or the combined length of their skirts and sleeves)… …how *will* you tell who’s a visitor and who is just going about hir daily business?
