Finished Quicksilver

As I wrote on the books page, “It’s a 900 page tome about a 300 page story. Interesting in an encyclophedic sort of way, but the least good (I can’t bring myself to say bad about a Stephenson book) of Stephenson’s books”.

  1. Would you have
    read it had it not been by him? Or would you have quit in the middle? Would you read it again, or would it be covered by dust? These are the real questions.

      Probably, if I had heard about it. It sounds fascinating.

      In the middle, no, because around page 300 the book gets quite good for a while. I might have quit in disgust in the beginning, though.

  2. I’ve been dreading starting it. Stephenson is wordy, but I agree, I still can’t bring myself to say anything bad about him.

    • It’s no cryptonomicon…
      … but it’s still worth a read, IMHO. If only to satisfy one’s curiosity.
