I need your recommendation, gentle readers, for an excellent, even sublime, alcoholic beverage. Money is of no account. Suggestions?
Yesterday, ladypine and me attended a baby shower, which was a lot more fun than I expected. During the course of the conversation, Orna mentioned that my good friend Oleg Goldshmidt has a link to a pagan site from his homepage. Knowing Oleg as I do, I expressed disbelief at this, we agreed to check when we’ll get home, and continued talking about other matters.
Later, when we got home, Orna went to check. Before she fired up mozilla, however, we made a bet. The loser will buy the winner a bottle of the alcoholic beverage of their choice. Needless to say, I won, and now I need your help to decide!
My current runner up is Chivas Regal, but I’m open to ideas.

baby shower is not the precise term; I have no idea what is the correct term. It’s called a “brit” in Hebrew, and it’s a party people throw when they have a new baby. If it’s a baby boy, often the circumcision takes place during the party…

Oh gosh, you mean circumcision during the party? We do have a culture whereby people throw party for their new one-month old baby but that’s all.

The more religious types usually have a Mohel who does the circumcision during the party. If I had a baby boy, he would got circumcized by a doctor, in a hospital, not by a religious functionary.

Circumcision isn’t very much practised here except for Malays.

The Mohel isn’t a Savage pirate who’s exceptionaly capable with the knife.
He’s having a exams, training, stag(as in doctors’ stag, after 7 years of study) which includes first-aid and Tzahevet recognition methods.

fair enough. But if you have a choice between someone with “exams, training and stag”, and someone who is a doctor, who would you choose?

I honestly don’t know who’s better for this task.
Just like a field-medic knows much less than a doctor about general healing facilities, but if you got shot (been to a Kravi unit BTW?) he might handle the situation better than the doctor as it’s his special field of expertation, the Mohel might handle Brit complexities better than the doctor as he’s been circumstancing hundreds of kids before.
Obviously a doctor who is also Mohel is the ideal choice.

Glenmorangie – one of the most famous single malt whiskeys. My personal favorite.
Becherovka. Nice bitter.
Jagermeister. Another nice bitter
Absinthe – one of the most fatal spirits out there (available in TA)
Jameson – Irish whiskey

I have a new bottle of Glenmorangie (which I’m seeping right now), and an unopened bottle of Jameson. I’ve wanted to try Absinthe for a long time. Haven’t heard of Becherovka, and have heard good things about Jagermeister. Thanks!

As for the beverage, I can recommend McKewans. It’s Scottish Ale and one of the best beers I ever tasted both in Israel and England.
You can get it either in Molly Blooms irish pub in TA or Temple Bar in Glilot (Cinema City).

If you were on this side of the ocean, I’d say go for Wild Turkey. That’s a whiskey made in Kentucky and there’s nothing like it on earth.
But since you’re on that side, you might try Absinthe. I hear there’s nothing quite like it, either.
