Not much to write about… Orna and I went to see the new movie, Basic, which I found surprisingly enjoyable, reminiscent of The Immediate Suspect. Afterwards, Orna returned home and I went to work out. The work out was rather short, as I skipped my usual aerobic routine and walked home, 5.5 kms uphill, instead. Orna made Sushi, which was pretty good. It could’ve been much better if we hadn’t run out of soy sauce. Then we bought groceries (a hated experience on Saturday evening, but we had no other time to do it) and went to sleep.

Once upon a time, I had a beard

It wasn’t much
It wasn’t full enough, a little patchy
Like the fur a mangy stray dog
But it was mine

It shielded me from the cruel world
It lent me an air of matureness
It was a barrier
And it was mine

Then, one day, woe be to the beard
Due to reasons that shall not be disclosed
It was snipped, and trimmed, and shaved
And it was no longer mine
I was naked!

Then, experimentation began
Searching for the lost beard
Smoothly shaved, mustache, goatee, sideburns
I tried them all – none fit
You see, none of them were mine

Why do I have a livejournal? I have a diary on advogato (http://www.advogato.org), and have had it for a long time. However, I don’t feel quite as comfortable with advogato as I used to, and there’s not enough sense of community. The purpose of this livejournal “blog” (I hate that word with a passion) is, quite simply, to allow me to be silly. To write about things that couldn’t possibly interest anyone except me, and to allow me to write spontaneusly. Also, being able to read various interesting journals through the ‘friends’ page is a killer feature.

Typical (?) vacation day – I didn’t do much. Finished going over the gcc proceedings (http://www.linux.org.uk/~ajh/gcc/gccsummit-2003-proceedings.pdf), but that’s about it in the realm of productive stuff to do. Didn’t make any progress on Unix Internals, nor on The World of Mathematics. I guess I just wasn’t in a reading mood. No code written, too, and no work out. At least I haven’t gone over board with food, and am still within the confines of my diet. As a matter of fact, I should go eat something now.

I wonder if entries need to be formatted as HTML… let’s check.
